Set to open in May 2015, the entertainment area has the new attraction The Orlando Eye, with stunning views of Orlando and surrounding areas, Orlando's Madame Tussaud's, the world famous wax museum with all its celebrity wax inhabitants, Sea Life Aquarium, which has an underwater tunnel to walk through showing hundreds of sea creatures in all their splendour. And the area also has restaurants, bars, shopping and a shuttle departure point for Legoland Florida which is about 45 minutes away.

Family Halloween Fun and Pumpkin Picking! Orlando Florida.

October is a very popular time in and around Orlando, with many Halloween events taking place and celebrations at the Theme parks. If you have small children and want a little break from the busyness of the theme parks for just a few hours, and want a fun Halloween experience that is pumpkin and animal themed, not far from the 'Parks' in Kissimmee there is Green Meadows Petting Farm. Here you will find a delightful haven where children are able to pick a pumpkin, interact with the farm animals and learn about their environment.

Take a ride on the tractor driven hay-ride or train, enjoy a pony ride, milk a cow, pet the baby animals, watch the ducks and fish, learn about pigs, sheep, goats and more.

Old Town Kissimmee Improvements Underway.

If you are planning a visit to Old Town Kissimmee, are you aware that there is a refurbishment taking place ? (August 2014)

Shops, bars and restaurants are still open, along with attractions such as 'Rootin Tootin Shooting Gallery', 'Laser Tag', 'The Haunt' and the Go Carts but the bigger rides are closed, making way for new improvements.

This atmospheric and fun area on Highway 192, is very close to Walt Disney World and the Universal Resort, worth visiting especially if staying in holiday accommodation close by.

KOA, Kampgrounds of America have a site in Kissimmee which is very close to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld and the attractions of Orlando Florida. It offers RV, tent sites and cabins. Has a pool, hot tub, fitness room, an area for the kids, and welcomes dogs.

July 4th 2014 Events For Visitors and Locals in Orlando Florida.

When researching SeaWorld Orlando, I saw on their web site that you can not only find information about the theme park for fun activities for all the family, but the work that SeaWorld Entertainment is involved in, with conservation worldwide of animals and sea life.

At the Magic Kingdom, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had Dedication Ceremony May 2nd 2014.

The New Fantasyland at Walt Disney World is very much in the news at the moment, as the new ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is almost complete and today a dedication ceremony has been held which I watched on a live stream from the 'Disney Parks Blog'. Here an announcement was made that the ride will be opening on May 28th 2014.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has been designed as a family ride so that all can enjoy the happy and thrilling experience captured from this classic children's story.

Happy Birthday, Disney's Hollywood Studios, WDW, Resort Orlando.

Celebrations will be taking place at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May1st 2014, as on this day 25 years ago this park was opened! Originally Disney-MGM Studios the name was changed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008.

A few events have been organised including a ceremony to honour cast members from the past 25years, Stars of the park will appear on a special motorcade that will pass through the streets, there will be a party with music, dancing and fireworks.

Also merchandise to commemorate the 25th anniversary will be available.

Orlando Eye. International Drive, Orlando, Florida.

Orlando Florida will soon have it's own Orlando Eye, a huge Ferris wheel in a complex of new attractions, shops, restaurants and entertainment. Construction is underway and is scheduled to open Winter 2014 but with some of the attractions opening through the summer.

The location for the complex is on International Drive, the Orlando Eye will stand 425 feet tall and visitors will have the chance to ride in one of the 30 gondolas for a ride of approximate 20 minutes and experience an amazing view.

It's time for Mardi-Gras at Universal Orlando!

Starting today Saturday 8th February 2014 and on selected weekends through till May 31st 2014.

This event captures the spirit and mood of a New Orleans street party.

With colour, music, dancing, street performers, lavish costumes and floats.

The parade begins at the Hollywood area in the Universal Studios and finishes in the New York area.

There are live concerts included in the celebration with big name acts who will be performing at the Universal Music Plaza stage.

Atmospheric Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, Florida.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Florida has a very different atmosphere to the other Disney theme parks in Orlando. It's incredible to think that you are only a few acres away from the outstanding Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot Parks. It throws you into a world of animals and discovery of lands such as Africa, Asia, Dinosaurs!   and more.

Conservation education is high on the list of goals that Disney aim to build and share which is evident here.

What Disney Give Back.

When researching the Walt Disney Company benevolent approach I was moved as to how much Disney gives back to the world. 

There are many projects worldwide whether it be supporting conservation and wildlife, providing relief in conservation emergencies. aiding families in communities all around the world, donating to children's hospitals, supporting education establishments to promote creative, imaginary and physical projects, encouraging people to volunteer, getting people together in community local projects to help the environment, such as planting trees, (I myself am proud to say that I took part in a tree planting event). The list seems endless of what Disney fund, promote and encourage. Their ethics and morals are to be commended.

Colourful 5k Race Event in Kissimmee January 25th 2014.

For a whacky, fun and color filled day, be a part of the Color Vibe 5k which is being held in Kissimmee, Florida on January 25, 2014.

This race is a 5k with a difference, all runners are showered with color along the route, starting at Lake Front Park, Kissimmee, Florida.

Color Vibe 5k Races are held in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand so if you can't make the Kissimmee one look out for an event in your area and go color crazy.

Why stay in a Vacation Home Rental near the Theme Parks in Orlando Florida?

From personal experience we found renting a house near Kissimmee close to the theme parks was a great solution for all our family's needs. 

The independence, space and luxury, adds to the vacation experience.

There are plenty of supermarkets close by to accommodate all your self catering needs. All home comforts have been thought off, with added luxury in most cases. fully equipped kitchens, washing machine and drier, bathroom and bed linen, TV, and quite often a small pool. 

We hired a car, which is recommended if staying off sight away from the theme parks own transport options.

There are many Vacation homes to choose from, for added security some can be rented that are in a gated community with added community perks such as swimming pool, gym etc.

Southern Cooking from the Dixieland Diner Food Truck.

Just a quick mention about a food truck I came across called the Dixieland Diner, it made me hungry reading the reviews on 'Yelp' (which were all very good) and the menu looks superb if you want Cajun and Southern food.

The food truck serves the Central Florida Area and can be found on Facebook and Twitter for more information and schedule.
