Hotel and Resort Hopping at Walt Disney World.

If you want to do something a little different on your vacation, why not spend some time visiting the many different Resorts Hotels.

On a recent trip we stopped off at a few of Disney’s on site resort hotels, the first being Animal Kingdom Lodge, we had a look around the amazingly decorated lobby and went outside for a short walk, we saw giraffes and African wildlife as if we were in African Wildlife reserve park.

Another day, that we allocated for Hollywood studios we parked the car and went to the landing stage for a boat ride to the Swan and Dolphin Resort Hotel, to me it had a wonderful, exclusive, expensive feel [I wished I had been dressed a little smarter] very lavish and tastefully decorated.

We then walked along the Disney Boardwalk, it was early and very peaceful. We sat on the wicker sun lounges of the Disney’s Boardwalk Inn drinking in its beauty.

Further around we found Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort, with a New England Yacht Club theme, there is a small beach area in front for visitors to relax and various nautical activities behind for paying quests staying at the Hotel. We then boarded the boat back for a fun filled day at Hollywood Studios.

Next day we drove to the Grand Floridian Resort, we parked in the car park, walked up to the Grand entrance to be greeted by a costumed concierge who was very friendly and took our photo as we posed in front of an old Victorian classic car. As we walked into the lobby I was awestruck at how everything was decorated so beautifully and grandeur. We walked outside to the jetty and saw in the distance the wedding pavilion. We continued our tour and found a café type restaurant and sat outside in a peaceful and opulent setting.

From here we boarded the mono-rail to the Polynesian Resort, again decorated tastefully in a Hawaiian theme, with sandy beaches outside and lush tropical gardens.

We again boarded the mono-rail going through Disney’s Contemporary Resort on the way back to the Grand Floridian.

We then drove to The Caribbean Beach Resort, I couldn’t believe how big the area was, it covers 200 acres and has five island villages around the shores of a huge lake, it really does have the atmosphere of being in the Caribbean.

Last but not least on this trip, my favourite of the resorts we visited is Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Which is situated in a ‘forest’ with it’s rustic cabins for accommodation or campout at one of the campgrounds, there are horse back and carriage rides, forest walks, water craft rental at the ‘beach’ Segways to ride, tennis and of course wildlife.

Here I have covered just a few of the Disney Resort Hotels, it seems that whatever theme you desire for your vacation Disney can accommodate your wishes.

Tropical Storm Season in Florida.

There is a warning out for a tropical storm that maybe heading towards Florida towards the end of the week, as it is the season for storms I thought it might be an idea to write about how to be prepared if you are on vacation and a storm hits.

Keep checking media coverage and tropical storm tracker sites on the internet.

Follow the guidelines set by your hotel or accommodation.

Keep your mobile phone charged.

Make sure your car gas tank is full.

Have extra food supplies if self catering, bearing in mind there may be power cuts.

Stock up on water.

Make sure you have access to cash in case ATM’s are out of order.

In the event you have to evacuate have a handy bag with toiletries, medications needed, and drinking water.

Be prepared for closures at the theme parks if a severe storm warning has been issued.

If severe stay indoors and wait.

Listen and adhere to what the authorities say.

Use common sense.

Experience The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida.

The Harry Potter series of books, and films, can be argued by many as the most important, and popular series of the last 10 years. With children growing up with the characters, and the films bringing these imaginations to the screen, there was only one thing left. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios allows the fans of this immensely life-changing franchise to step into its magical world, and to experience all things Harry Potter. With a ‘Forbidden Journey’, and the famous shops from the books on Hogsmeade’s high street, imaginations are bought to reality.

The giant Hogwarts castle that towers over the park houses the ‘Forbidden Journey’ ride, within which guests can soar above the grounds and take part in a journey with Harry himself, and encounter some of the fantastical creatures featured in the book. The queue area of the ride is an attraction in itself, winding through the many rooms of Hogwarts, including Dumbledore’s office, and some of the classrooms, where every detail has been perfected to feel like it has come right from the book.

Dragon Challenge lets the fearless race dragons, either a wild Hungarian Horntail, or the ferocious Chinese Fireball, on a fast, exciting ride. The two ‘dragons’ race against each other, on intertwining courses, and a near miss is sure to make it feel as if you really are flying in the sky on a speeding dragon.

Try out one of Hagrid’s infamous Care of Magical Creatures classes, and ride the ‘Flight of the Hippogriff’. Learn how to approach it, just as Harry Potter did, and then be rewarded with a fantastical flight, that circles Hagrid’s hut, and swoops down and around his pumpkin patch.

Dining in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is purely magical. The Three Broomsticks is the local restaurant of Hogsmeade, and is the perfect place to stop and have a taste of the famous Butterbeer, or to have a hearty English lunch. Meals include Fish and Chips, Turkey Legs, and Shepherd’s Pie, with many other dishes to please all, while sitting in the traditional wooden tavern style surroundings. Included in the back of The Three Broomsticks is the Hog’s Head pub, within which guests can try Butterbeer, pumpkin juice, and a range of alcoholic beverages for the adults.

There is a wide range of shops for young wizards to supply themselves with their Wizarding goods. Including Dervish and Banges, Zonkos, Honeydukes, for magical treats and sweets, and Ollivanders, where guests can have their wand choose them, there is something for everyone.

Finding Orlando Vacation Routes.

If you need help finding a route in the Orlando area here is an example of one of the services we provide. One of our readers e.mailed us with this Question…

Dear Sir / Madam

I have a vacation at Chatham Circle, Kissimmee, Florida, please can you provide direction details from Orlando International Airport?
Many Thanks
Regards
Mr *** ***

---

Hi
Thanks for using my sites.
I have a page for you -
http://orlando-maps.info/locations/mco_chatham_park.htm

Note the reference to the 'tricky' left turn onto R-535.
If you are a First Time USA Driver, I would recommend continuing on to Celebration Avenue and avoiding all left turns except for the last onto Siesta Lago Drive.

Hope this helps.
